U14s
4-5 defeat against Ashton U14 Rhinos.
Challenging conditions with rain throughout and pitch turning into a mud bath but the lads stood up to the test and were competitive throughout.
Not much between the teams in the opening 25 minutes before Ashton took the lead. St Johns hit back with a penalty scored by Ciaran after Malachy was tripped in the box. Unfortunately Ashton went straight down the other end and scored again to retake the lead 2-1.
We had good chances for more goals when Ciaran shot wide after a great run and Oscar had a shot just over after a goalkeeper parry but it was 2-1 to Ashton at half time.

Ashton scored first in the second half from a penalty before Ciaran scored again to bring the score back to 3-2.
Ashton then scored twice to make it 5-2. St Johns scored again when Sebastian tapped in at the back post from a free kick. With time running out Ciaran secured a hatrick with another from the penalty spot but the ref's whistle blew before we could find an equaliser and it ended 5-4 to Ashton.
A great team effort from all the lads .
