St John's v Wilmslow Sports Community FC Pumas
A good start by St John's today with Ted C getting an early chance. This was followed by a wide shot from Roberto. It was a while before the near top of the league Pumas had their first shot. George also came close. Louis then put in a cross, George got in the way of their keeper and the ball found it's way into the net. 1-0 to St John's. George hit the post and our team had momentum. A free kick from Roberto also hit the post. Sam pulled off a catch from a long range shot to keep it 1-0 at half-time. We were a little sluggish starting the second half and Wilmslow seemed to want it more. Despite the Pumas now being on top Harry managed to get a shot in. Sam made a save from just under the bar. Raph took a bad knock and had to leave the field for a while. A long throw from Harry found Roberto who hammered it home, 2-0 and looking good for a win. Almost immediately Wilmslow fought back and scored a good goal with a shot over our keeper, 2-1. Then one of their players ran past about 7 of our lads to equalise, 2-2. There was 10 minutes to go. Roberto's free kick went over. A corner from Wilmslow ended in a headed goal for the visitors. The come back was complete, 2-3. We'd thrown the game away from a winning position with minutes to go. It then got worse as Raph received a yellow card and headed for the sin bin. A highly competitive match today with some good performances but a disappointing result.
