At the start St John's found it a little difficult to get into the game. There was an early save from Rodrigo to keep Flixton out. Our opponents then came close again. Kyle was very late on their keeper and caught him with a high leg. This resulted in a straight red card. St John's now had to play most of the match with 10 men. Josh L managed to get a rare shot in for the green and white hoops. Flixton continued to attack our goal and made it 1-0 with a close range shot. Flixton were on top but at half-time there was only one goal in it. The 10 men battled away in the second half. A deflected shot from Ted G found the back of the net, 1-1. The boys knuckled down and were now playing well against one of the title contenders. Unfortunately Rodrigo couldn't hold onto a free kick which put Flixton back into the lead, 2-1. Will had several attempts and Kayo hustled and got a shot in. An error gave Flixton a third goal, 3-1. Late on Jesse put in a lovely free kick which George put away inches from the goal line. So that's how it ended 3-2 to the visitors.
