The U18’s kicked off the season away to Lymm on a huge Astro pitch, a minimal pre season (due to me) & paper thin squad. Luckily all are very decent footballers.

We did look rusty & were wasteful of possession 1st half but Tom put us ahead after 10 minutes. Lymm equalised after 20 due to poor communication from a corner. We do really need to talk to each other! A (very) dubious penalty & more poor comms put Lymm 3vs1 up & then a fluked cross meant 4vs1 down at 1/2 time.

We started the 2nd half better & made some decent chances but a punted clearance & and error at the back put Lymm 5vs1 up.

We were down to 1 sub, 3 lads on 1 leg & the rest knackered; Lynne had 6 subs & a ref who gave them everything.

The lads have an amazing attitude & bossed it from this point. Omari & then Tom’s 2nd got us back to 5vs3. Jesse drilled in 1 from the edge of the box. A mad scramble & their defender turned into a 2nd goalie to stop our equaliser going over the line. Omari stuck the penner in the top corner. Hugely entertaining 5vs5 season opener.

Brilliant effort from the lads but we had nothing left so hung on for the final couple of minutes.

Well done boys & there’ll be some very tired & sore lads this afternoon.
