League Leaders Put Warriors To The Sword
St Johns JFC Under 11’s 3 Unicorn Athletic (Warriors) 0
- att 34 plus Patrick Devereux’s dog
The current division three league leaders put on their best display of the season during the first half. Eoin Watts opened the scoring shooting low into the corner of the goal after latching on to Harry Callaghan’s defence splitting ball.
The second half saw further goals from Watts and James Mc Intyre whose cross was turned into the goal by a Warriors defender. St Johns then played out the remainder of the match defending their lead. St Johns hope to continue unbeaten run at Hale Barns next Sunday.
Hale! Another Barns Storming Result For St John’s
Hale Barns United 0 St John’s JFC Under 11’s 3
Sunday 15/10/06
A packed Stamford Park School ground saw St John’s notch up their eighteenth league game without defeat. Its over twelve months since they were last beaten, 5 – 2 at Flixton.
Whilst Owston and Hopkins Tonge were partying the day away (These young Lads…) the rest of the team quickly sailed into an early two-goal lead. Murphy moving forward from the right back position cracked in the opener, swiftly followed by a sweeping move leaving leading scorer James Mc Intyre to bend the ball in for his 6th goal of the season.
The rest of the game was very even with Hale Barns winning a lot of headers and midfield possession. Goalkeeper Devereux and the rest of the St Johns defence including a ‘man of the match’ display from Patrick Bradbury remained cool under pressure. St John’s George Holt went close with a volley before five minutes from time Eoin Watts beat his man on the edge of the area to power in a third goal and clinch the points.
Bring on Barca, Real Madrid or Benchhill Celtic, St Johns are on current form going to give anybody a game.
Mc Intyre And Murphy See Off Cybermen Tendencies And Flying Tea Cups
St John’s JFC Under 11’s 3 Sale United ‘C’ 1
Sunday 1/10/2006
- Att 27 plus 9 first half cybermen
St John’s produced their worst display for many months for much of the first half.
Conceding an early Sale United goal, their collective football abilities seemed to be deleted by the Cyber Controller featured in the recent Dr Who TV series.
The sound of tea cups smashing into the fence were heard around the ground as the St John’s manager prepared for the half time team talk. This roused the team into action. Eoin Watts played in James Mc Intyre who ran from the half way line to slot the ball past the Sale keeper to equalize. Within a few minutes, Callum Murphy crashed in a penalty to put the home side in front after Watts who has been attending Miss Mc Carvilles after school drama classes tumbled to the floor in true Didier Drogba style.
In the second half James Mc Intyre provided an outstanding defensive midfield performance whilst Harry Callaghan fired in a third goal to secure the hard earned points. Suggestions that the half time ‘Jaffa cakes’ were replaced by ‘Dalek bread’ were untrue.
As for the robotic football, well that’s best left to the experts ‘Mourinho’s Chelsea’…
‘My Right Foot’ Starring Michael Kilcoyne
St Johns’s JFC Under 11’s 6 Lymm Rovers ‘B’ 1
Sunday 17/9/2006
- Att – 76,713 (A new premiership and Timperley & District under 11’s league record)
St John’s produced a Hollywood blockbuster display. With Lymm Rovers only able to muster eight players Connell Hopkins Tonge was loaned to play in goal and went on to give a ‘best boy’ display. Lymm clearly hadn’t read the script and scored first, St John’s leading performer Matthew O’ Dowd who later played in goal after Patrick Owston suffered a bout of jaffa cake-itis had two shots turned away, James Mc Intyre scored a point for Mayo with his penalty kick as it sailed over the bar.
Two goals from Harry Callaghan and one each from Eoin Watts, Fabian Sheedy, James Mc Intyre and a superb eighteen yard right foot drive from Michael Kilcoyne steered St John’s to victory.
This was indeed an Oscar winning performance from all the team on a day that started in bright sunshine and by kick off time was played in pouring rain with thunder and lightening crashing and flashing across the dark sky. The display in the words of a great Hollywood musical left the St John’s manager ’Singing and dancing in the rain’.
Ashton Pay The Penalty As St John’s Produce Their Sunday Best
St John’s JFC Under 11’s 4 Ashton on Mersey ‘B’ 0
Sunday 10/9/2006
- Att – 76,611 (A new Premiership and Timperley and District Under 11’s League record)
A new season, a new home ground, a new pitch size, a new look 3 – 4 – 1 team formation but the same old St John’s win.
This was a game of two penalties, one scored by St John’s Callum Murphy, the second blasted over the bar by the Ashton striker. James Mc Intyre scoring two goals and Eoin Watts adding another ensured St John’s first win of the new ‘9 v 9’ format.
